Descent does not mean change of place, but an apparent change of status. God who is formless and attributeless temporarily assumes an embodied form with name and attributes, in order to establish rapport with mankind and help them to realize their innate Divinity. But this does not mean in anyway diminish His Divinity.(NNSG Vol.1, p. 29) Descent does not mean stepping down from the top to the ground. It means only accepting the level of the person who is in the battlefield. The baby on the floor cannot jump into the arms of the mother when she calls upon it to come up. ‘I am a great person; I cannot stoop’- if the mother feels like that she cannot possess the child. Stooping does not make a person small. The teacher too is not demeaning himself when he comes down to the level of the pupil in order to teach him. It is only a laudable sign if Love.(V Vahini, p. 88)
