Energy

Scientists, after long investigations, have discovered that the whole universe is made up of atoms. The Vedantins (spiritualists) on their part, declared that everything is permeated by the Divine. The terms used are different but the meaning is the same. Energy is Brahman and Brahman is energy. The cosmos is filled with energy. All that you, see and all that you do are

energy. You observe an object. You see an individual. Both the object and the individual are manifestations of energy.

What the scientists call ‘matter’ is nothing but energy. An object appears as matter. But it turns into energy later on. Likewise, one may appear to you as. a Jiva (Individual), but even he becomes energy in due course. Hence, all the forms and names you see are manifestations of energy.

What is this energy? It is something, which you cannot see or conceive in the mind. Energy is energy alone. It is Divine. Every physical object has a base. There is electrical energy in man. Likewise, there is radiation energy in man. There must be a basis for all these energies. You see that in the world every object is based on some other object. God is the base for all the energies in the cosmos. The Vedantins called this energy as Atita Shakti (Transcendental Energy).

Scientists have termed it ‘Super power.’ The names used may vary, but the substance is one and the same.

In every man there is numerous latent potencies of which. He is not aware. The scientists have given different names to the different energies such as ‘psychotronic energy’ and ‘bio-plasmic energy.’ Vedantins have described it by the compendious term ‘Transcendental Energy.’

How is the presence of this energy to be recognized? The Vedantins described the process of recognition as involving manasika shakti (will power), dharana shakti (concentration), jnana shakti (meditation) and samadhi (deep awareness). By these four processes, one can experience Atma shakti (power of the Spirit). This means that in the final analysis, every individual, every object and every form of energy becomes one with the Divine. (SSS Vol.30, p. 87)

Energy arises from surrender to God. Energy comes from heart expanding. A small closed heart - no energy. If Baba is known in the heart, then the heart expands. Body is the temple, heart is the seat. God is installed there. (CWBSSB, p. 124)

Sun is fire incarnate. How does this fire emerge? Heat is produced when hydrogen in the sun is converted into helium. This is borne out by science. In this process, eight forms of energy are noticed. Kinetic energy (Yantra shakti), heat energy (Ushna shakti), light (Kanti shakti), magnetic energy (Ghana shakti), electrical energy (Vidhyut shakti), chemical energy (Rasa shakti), and atomic energy (Anu shakti). Scientists have calculated that every second the sun is losing many billion units of energy. Nevertheless the Sun will continue to be a source of energy for millions of years. The Sun is the presiding deity of the intellect (Buddhi). He is the lord of the intelligence and he illumines the intellect in man. Thus, sun is also an embodiment of the Divine. (SS Dec 91 , pp. 313-314)

God is one. Divinity is one in all. Therefore, Vedanta said Sarvam Khalvidam Brahma - the whole universe is Brahman. Einstein the scientist used the same words. Scientists argue that there are two things in the world. They say one is matter and the other energy. But Einstein did not accept that. Without matter, there is no energy. Without energy, matter cannot exist. Therefore, everything is energy. (DTB Vol.5, p. 10)
