The flag summarises the spiritual discipline I have laid down for you: conquest of Desire and Anger (kama and krodha), achievement of Love (prema) and the practice of the repetition of the Lord’s Name (japayoga - whichever Name of the Lord one chooses), leading to the blossoming of the Lotus of the Heart and the emergence of the Flame of Knowledge therein. When I hoist the flag over the Nilayam you should convert your hearts into Prasanthi Nilayams (Abodes of Peace) and hoist the flag there too, and keep it flying. (TSF, p. 160)
