We have forgotten the culture of Bharat today. We do not listen when elders start teaching us. We have forgotten the culture of Bharat with the progress of modern education. It is not proper. Have faith in the culture of Bharat. Love all countries. All countries are like a family. A big house has many rooms. The whole world is a house. Each country is like a room there. We say India is the living room. Do not have the difference that India is separate, Pakistan is separate, Russia is separate. Others may have difference but you shouldn’t have it. We should develop such divine feelings.

A small example. Many foreign countries have developed various kinds of weaponry. They think armaments and weapons will protect them. From which country? Your own country. Do you think your country will be protected if you ruin or damage another country? Swami’s view is that it is not armaments or weapons that we should seek. The history of Bharat has demonstrated this. This is an ideal. ‘Yenna Bharathe Thanna Bharat.’ (Maha) Bharat is true Bharat.

There are five important people in Mahabharata. They are Dharmaja,Bhima,Arjuna,Nakula,Sahadeva. The five princes are like five life principles. They are the five senses, the five elements. They are named in that way. All the other four among the Pandavas follow Dharmaja, the eldest. Under any circumstance, they never disobeyed Dharma. They obeyed the commands of Dharmaja under all circumstances. They were successful with that unity. We should also be like that today.

America has acquired many weapons. Russia manufactured bombs. At one time, Munshi organised a meeting of intellectuals. At that time, one person asked a question to Swami - Why Bharat is not making bombs when other foreign countries are doing so? America has so many. Russia has so many. But Bharat has none. Swami said ‘Oh, mad man, the weapon that Bharat has, no other country has’. Bharat is not a small country. It is wealthy. It is powerful. What could be the reason for foreign invasions except for our wealth? What is that wealth? It is the spiritual wealth.

Bhima has the muscle power and intelligence. He symbolises Russia. Arjuna is so powerful and with many titles like Arjuna, Phalguna,Partha, Kiritin, Jishnu, Savyasachin, Dhananjaya, etc. he represents America. Dharmaja is our country Bharat. Bhima and Arjuna, though very powerful, have to submit to Dharmaja.

So we should protect truth and righteousness and not our physical wealth. They in turn will protect the country. ‘Dharmo Rakshati Rakshitah’ - if you protect Dharma, Dharma will protect you. Protect truth and righteousness, then you will have all the power. Do not harm anybody. Every country will be in our hands.

Do not hurt anybody. That was the nature of Dharmaja. Bharat is the very form of Dharma. It is not proper on our part to make the bomb. You should make the bomb if you want to hurt or harm anybody. Why do you need to fear if you don’t have such ideas? Others may make bombs; it is dangerous for them alone. Our Prime Minister, Narasimha Rao, in his foreign tour made the same statement. Any country for that matter making atom bomb, hydrogen bomb or nitrogen bomb will ruin that country. Anyone may manufacture but it will put the whole world in danger. The Prime Minister argued that no one should make bombs. Swami accepts his view. This is the noblest idea. The very great weapon is the weapon of righteousness. We should achieve it. It is Dharma that protects the country. (DTB Vol.1, pp. 13-14)
