He appointed eight Amatyas (Ministers) to advise him in the affairs of his kingdom. The word ‘Amatya’ signifies those who practice righteousness in their daily life and establish the principle thus. Sumantra was an important person among these Amatyas.In addition to these Amatyas, Emperor kept two Sages Vashistha and Vamadeva in his Royal Court. He used to treat them as his Gurus (preceptors). They used to officiate as Priest salso to Emperor Dasharatha.
