Amritasya Putra

Also known as Amrita Putra. Son of eternal divinity. (Glossary for the Vahinis)

Do not call yourselves the children of sin; there is no sin worse than that you are inheritors of immortality, every one of you; you have the Lord residing in your hearts. He is the Inner Motivation of everything in creation. How then can you be a child of sin? (SSSm Vol.1, pp. 184-185)

Bhagavad Gita declares that you are the children of immortality – Amritasya Putra. What is the meaning of Amritasya Putra? When does a person become Amritasya Putra? A person who can recognise the difference between Kshetra and the Kshetrajna is the one who attains to this state. We should enquire into this a little deeply. This physical body is made of filth. It is only a vehicle for the Atma. This body cannot help us to cross the ocean of Samsara. If you enquire into the true nature of this physical body, you will not have any special liking for it. All the same, you cannot ignore this body. This is an instrument given to us in order to discharge our duties. Therefore, it needs certain care. At the same time you should recognise the truth that it is only an instrument. Enquiring into this Kshetra you perceive the permanent and impermanent nature of this body. The ‘Kshetrajna’ is the Atma Swarupa. This kshetra is made up of earth and the Kshetrajna is made up of consciousness. In this physical body, there is this consciousness that is Atma. The body is like a steel box. Just as valuable jewels are kept in the steel box, similarly in this body there is this divine entity, the Atma. (S -p. 39/40)
