The jagat, this passing show, is based on maya. (DhyV, p. 20)
Jagat (world) is ja + Gat i.e. that which comes and goes meaning that the world is transient. Nothing is permanent. Whatever is coming as sorrow, think that it is a passing cloud. Don’t worry about it. Only when you swim by pushing the water back, you can go far ahead. What is the shape of worry? It is mentally created fear. Go with confidence. (M, p. 164)
The person who enjoys (Bhokta) and the object that provides joy (Bhogya) – these two compose the Jagat (World). When these two become one, they mix and are then known as Aththa, that is to say, Bhokta. This is the vyavahara, the natural conclusion. It does not stand to reason that the One, be known as Bhogya. Well. Who is the Bhokta? It is Agni, the Fire which accepts the oblation. (LKV, p. 23)
