Learn

There are three methods of learning namely Shravana that is to listen, manana that is to think over again and Nididhyasana that is to assimilate. In these three levels of learning, Rishis installed Saraswati, Bharati and Ida. (SSB 1974, p. 193)

Learning means Atma jnana; it is not the knowledge of things related to the world, which trains for a living, and is useful as a basis for a living. To compare Atma jnana with such vidya s is a great mistake. Great men are those who do not abuse others, who search for the reality with good intentions. Spiritual matters cannot be understood by those without the power of discrimination, who are conceited with the authority they have; or by those who are unaware of any Atma jnana. (San Vah, p. 12)

You must learn tolerance and patience, charity and service. You must determine to seek, after the pilgrimage is over and you sit in your own home ruminating over your experiences. (SSS Vol.3, p. 207)

The most important thing to be learned from Bhakti yoga  is that you should not only love God but you should also love all beings, treating everyone as God. Worshipping God while harming others cannot be called devotion. It only reveals the depths of one’s ignorance. Such people will never progress on the spiritual path. (DBG, p. 18)

Sleep much, you become dull, Eat less, of joy be full. Talk much and earn a turgid brain; Reduce Desire and goodness attain. Be composed – how well you shine! Be angry – how fast you decline! Contentment showers happiness; Jealousy breeds unhappiness. Stick to Truth, Truth will save, Gladly suffer, it enriches you. Love and gather affection best; Hoard! And Shani is your guest. Give up, and roll in joy; Worry, and illness plays with you as toy. Sattvika character is wisdom pure, Rajasika wildness is ruin sure. Living for oneself is Yamabadha; Living for the Self is Sivabodha. Pride! You are a Danava!Dharma! Thou art Madhava. Doubt is ceaseless torture, Concord, the finest teacher. Excess knowledge brings much harm; Fame comes from mirth, moderate and warm. Himsa! O it is Kamsa! Ahimsa! ‘Tis Paramahamsa! The greedy struggle for the ‘Here.’ The godly struggle for the ‘Hereafter’. Vasana is a wily tick; Hate is a noose so thick. Obstinacy is rude and rough, Mischief is crude and tough. Learn these lessons well, and be from Triple Gunas free! (SS Nov 99 , p. 342)

The earth always rotates around itself, causing day and night; it revolves incessantly around the sun resulting in seasons, rain fall, sunshine etc and helps all living beings by producing various agricultural, sylvicultural and horticultural crops, without expecting any reward for itself. Man should learn from the earth the lesson of unselfishly serving others without respite and reward. (Uniq, p. 149)

Learn to adapt, adjust and accommodate. Learn to give, not to take; learn to serve, not to rule.

(Uniq, p. 162)

I am ever engaged in some activity or other for your benefit. Things I could get done, I do not entrust to others; I do them Myself, so that they may learn self-reliance and get experience thereby. I have always your progress, your comfort, your happiness in mind. You can note it in the slightest act of Mine. I do all work pertaining to Me. I open all letters addressed to Me and they are legion. (SSS Vol.26, p. 83)

Any amount of learning without Love for God is utter futility; The foolish one, in spite of all learning, remains a fool forever; The wicked one, despite all learning, never sheds his wickedness; Learning promotes only logic, but not pure Wisdom; Of what use is learning if it does not bring you freedom from death? (SSB 1996, p. 10)

Learn the language of love; unlearn the language of hate and contempt. (NNSG Vol.5, p. 205)
