Moha

Delusion caused by false identification, infatuation. (Glossary for the Vahinis)

Moha is the delusion that some people are nearer to one than others and the desire to please them more than others, leading to exertions for earning and accumulating for their sake ( Prasnottara vahini p.32)

In fact, man is caught in the coils of illusion-Moha. When Moha is conquered, man is aware of the Truth and he is free. (SSS Vol.7, p. 447)

Infactuation is Moha, liberation is Moksha. As long as you suffer from Moha, Moksha is impossible. As long as you have delusion you will be in a state of bondage. Moksha has nothing to do with worldly pleasure. It is not an-air-conditioned room or a plush seat. It is the destruction of delusion and attachment. Moksha is made up of Moha and Kshaya, or the complete extinction of Moha, the incineration of all worldly desires and delusions. (DBG, p. 5)

Human existence is enveloped in infatuation (Moham). When man frees himself from this infatuation, he will experience real happiness. This infatuation breeds egoism and possessiveness (Ahamkara and mamakara) which bring about the loss of one’s name and fame. One who is filled with ego will be unable to experience love from others. It is essential therefore to get rid of this infatuation. ‘Moham Hitva Priyam Bhavati’ (One becomes endearing to others by conquering infatuation). (SS May 96, p. 126)
