Natural State

Man’s natural state is happiness and he cannot be blamed for craving that which is his own. But man is making a serious mistake. He believes that the happiness for which he craves comes from objects which he can experience. The truth of the matter is that he does not experience these objects. On the contrary, the objects experience the man, and in the process the man is further weakened. The man comes home from his work feeling tired and frustrated. In order to seek relaxation and a renewal of a feeling of happiness, the man goes to a cinema and gets his mind filled with faulty life values portrayed by the glamorous actors and actresses. Or the man goes off to his club. There he engages in and perhaps likes liquor. This is all a waste of time; and waste of time is waste of life. Instead of renewing the man’s strength, it further weakens him. What is the remedy? The remedy is to consider the truth which represents this ancient and sacred land of Bharat. The eternal truth is that there is only one everlasting, never-failing happiness, and that is God. You are God, and to drink deeply of that ever-flowing spring of happiness, you must turn to yourself, to the Divine Atma, which, however, obscured, is always the resident of your heart, the subtle truth of your being. (MBI, p. 180)

It is the people of Bharat who spent their time singing the glory, spending all the time propagating these sacred human values. It is Bharat that is filled with all the noble ideas. Though you know the divine nature, you appear as if you are unaware. What is the reason? You portray truth as untruth by forgetting the environment and entering undesirable paths. This is not proper. What should we do to change this? We do not fear sin because of ignorance. We do not have love for God. Humanity has lost its human values. What else are the other bad qualities? Bharatiyas have lost fear of sin, love for God and morality in society.

Love for God is our Natural state. Love for God is our heritage. When you have love for God, naturally you will have fear of sin. Today there is no fear of sin. You find people engaged in cruel actions. What is the reason? They have no fear of sin. How can we establish morality in society under such conditions? we have to bring in several changes in society.
