Female consort of Shiva. Also, a weapon given by Brahma to Meghanada, who used it on Lakshmana. (Glossary for the Vahinis)
Great universal power, divine energy, strength. (Glossary for the Vahinis)
The shakti, or energy which goes by the name of Parameshvari, is the basis for Svadha, a synonym of Prakriti, is equivalent of this Parameshvari or Shakti. Parameshvara is the one who has maya as His instrument. (SSB 1974, p. 83)
The names Lakshmi, Saraswati and Parvati are only convenient expressions for the Shakti that is the immanent in Godhead. For example, Lakshmi is personification of Daya, or the Grace of Vishnu; that is why she is said to dwell in His breast! So too, Parvati is half the body of Shiva, inseparably incorporated in Him! The powers of Creation, Conservation and Dissolution are co-existent and continuous in Godhead.
These Shaktis are similarly pictured as inseparably associated with the three aspects of the Absolute. Man’s duty is to achieve unity with the Shiva Shakti; for he is but a spark that has emanated from it; but a flame of the Eternal Fire. (SSS Vol.2, p. 14)
Iccha-Shakti, the power of the will, Kriya-Shakti, the power of activity, and Jnana-Shakti, the power of reason, direct all three towards God; desire him, serve Him and know Him. (SSS Vol.8, p. 113)
