Compassion

Compassion is when love is mobile and flows. Personal love is when love is not mobile but remains fixed on husband; wife, child etc. (CWBSSB, p. 88)

The joy one gets while promoting another’s joy is incomparable. Your heart must melt in compassion when the eye sees another person suffering. That is the sign of Sattvika individual. The Tamasika individual will be indifferent, he is too dull, too bovine, to be affected.

The Rajasika man will rush to punish the person who caused the suffering and might even forget to relieve the misery of the person affected! Callousness is the root cause of all the cruelty that defaces the Divine Nature of man, in all the lands on the earth. (SSS Vol.9, p. 191)

Cultivate comradeship with the good, develop compassion for the distressed, foster the feeling of elation at the happy and prosperous and deepen indifference towards the evil-minded. This is the ancient and well- tried prescription for a calm peaceful life. God will bless such men and award them Grace. (SSS Vol.7, p. 117)

Sadayam Hridayam Yasya Bhashitam Satya bhushitam |

Kayam Parahitam Yasya Kalistasya Karoti Kim

What can the evil effects of Kali Age do to a man whose heart is filled with compassion, whose every utterance is truth and whose body is dedicated for the service of others. (SSS Vol.32 Part II, p. 1)

‘Give up; be willing to be a permanent invalid or to recover, as God wills, but suspend all conclusions. Open your heart to pain, for it is God’s will, wrought for your own good. It is His plan to dissolve the ego. Welcome it as a challenge. Turn inward and derive the strength to bear it and benefit by it.’ (EL, p. 232)

What is needed is not fashion or passion but Compassion.

Without Daya (Compassion), it is no Hridaya (Heart).

(NNSG Vol.5, p. 233)

Na dharmo dhayaa samah’ (There is no virtue equal to compassion). What is dharma? Compassion is the highest dharma. A heart filled with compassion is the temple of the Divine. Every man should have a compassion- filled heart. (SSS Vol.28, p. 224)

Compassion is the quality of a human being and he should lead his life with compassion. Lord Rama was an epitome of compassion. It was the quality of compassion that added to His Divine glory. Every human being should imbibe this quality of compassion. When he imbibes such good qualities, he will have no room for sorrow because sorrow is the result of his evil qualities. First and foremost suffuse your heart with love .If you fill your heart with love, only words of love will come out of your mouth and you will look at everyone with love. Whatever is the type of water you store in the tank, the same water will come out of the taps. Therefore,

Start the day with love,

Fill the day with love,

Spend the day with love,

End the day with love,

This is the way to God.

Treasure love in your heart. A man without love is like a living corpse. You should become embodiment of love. If only you fill the heart with love, it will take care of everything. (SS April 11, p. 104)
