Know

Know that ‘I’; know that ‘I’ is the same as ‘He’. You can know it only by intense sadhana, sadhana that is not marred by anger, envy, greed, vices that sprout from the ego. When you get angry, you act as if you are possessed by an evil spirit; your face becomes ugly and frightful.

As a matter of fact like the red bulb winking when danger is approaching, the eyes and face become red as a warning signal. Heed that signal and betake yourself to a quiet lonely spot; do not give free vent to wicked vocabulary. Envy and greed also emanate from the ego and have to be carefully watched and controlled. Like the tadpole’s tail, the ego will fall away, when one grows in wisdom. It must fall away; if it is cut, the poor tadpole will die. So, don’t worry about the ego, develop wisdom, discriminate, know the ephemeral nature of all objective things, then, the tail will no longer be evident. (SSS Vol.4, p. 179)

Once you know the Lord, the Omnipotent Power, is the mainspring of your life, there will be no fear any more. When you suspect the strength of the foundation of a house, you are afraid to enter it; when you suspect the skill of the manufacturer, you are nervous to ride in the car. Bhishma and other Bhaktas as well as Sankara and other Jnaanis knew that the Lord is the adhara, and so they had no fear at all. But, that faith has not taken root in men today and so, this has become an Age of fear and anxiety, of Ashanti. (SSS Vol.5, p. 8)

Know the Atma which is your Reality; know that it is the same Inner Force of this universe. Let your intelligence penetrate into the truth. Analyse yourself and discover the several layers of Consciousness, the physical, the sensory, the nervous, the mental, the intellectual, and arrive at the very core of even the last layer, the layer of Joy. The Panchakosas have to be transcended, so that you may attain your truth, which is Atman. (SSS Vol.5, p. 8)

Know that Paramatma is the goal of Man; direct all attention on that goal; control the mind that wanders away from it, this is the essence of the teaching of all the Shastras. Practise this one discipline, and you have practised all the Shastras. (P.Vah, p. 34)

First you must know your own full address. Who are you? The Atman. Whence did you come? From the Atman. Where are you going? To the Atman, itself. How long can you be here? Until you merge with the Atman, Where are you now? In the unreal; the ever-changing. In what form? As anatman. What are you engaged in? In evanescent tasks. Therefore, what should you do, hereafter? Give up these three and try the other three - to enter the Eternal, to engage in never-changing tasks, and to enjoy the bliss of the Atman. . (P.Vah, p. 47)

Know that you are saved: Go and tell all that you had gone to Puttarparthi and that you got there the secret of liberation. (SSS Vol.4, p. 8)

One individual came to Socrates and said, ‘You are one who knows everything’. Socrates replied, ‘I do not know everything. I know only one thing’. The individual asked, ‘What is the only thing that you know?’ Socrates replied, ‘I know one thing and that is that I do not know anything’. (SSB 1977, p. 252)

To get to the core of God at His greatest, one must first get into the core of oneself at least once, for no one can know God who has not known himself. (EL, p. 6)

‘The Jnani will not look upon Me as wearing this dress, yellow gown today or pink gown tomorrow; he will penetrate to the Tattva behind this Form and know that this Body is but a dress worn for a purpose. The coming Avatar of this Tattva will have another dress. You get full Jnana by the analysis of the knowledge of the Self. Unless you know yourself, you cannot know Me.’ (Uniq, pp. 46-47)
