The Upanishads exhort one, ‘Dear son, you try to realize your own nature first. Know thyself! If you can do that, it amounts to knowing everything.’ The knowledge of the Self Atma Bodha) entails realization, ‘I am not the body, I am not the mind, I am not the intellect.’ (SSS Vol.42, p. 118)

‘Why worry how the cosmos was born or when it will die? Worry rather about yourself’. That is the lesson emphasised by the scriptures. ‘Know Thyself’. Once you know yourself, everything else will be automatically clear. You are a Pindanda in the Brahmanda, a microcosm in the macrocosm. Just as the knowledge of one single clay pot is enough to know all about all clay pots; when you know yourself, all else can be known. (SV, p. 159)

In the Vedantic parlance it is said: Try to know yourself who you are. If you can understand who you are, you will have understood the secret of all creation. (Sens.SS, pp. 12-13)
