In understanding the relationship between space, mind, and the sun, if we compare our mind to the moon, our eyes and vision to the sun, and our spiritual heart to space, or the sky, the thoughts that pass through our mind are like clouds that fill the space. There is truth in our recognising our ideas and thoughts as clouds, as these ideas of ours are not something permanent.(SSB 1974, p. 148)
‘Arjuna! not all can understand the divyatattvam of My Janma and Karma. Only those who are free from attachment, hatred, fear and anger; only those who know of no other support than Me, who are sanctified by knowledge of the Atma; only these can grasp it. Those who seek Me without deviating; possessing Satya, Dharma and Prema, will reach Me. This is absolutely true, take it from Me. Give up any doubt you may have’. (GV, p. 68)
Children can understand the meanings of the word fox or dog only when they see their pictures. Similarly, it is only after seeing the parents that one can understand the existence of God. When you love and respect your parents, only then you can understand the love of the Divine Parents (Jagat-mata and Jagat-pita). This is what I tell you often-if you understand the ‘I’ principle in you, you will understand the ‘I’ in everybody. Vyashti (Individual) has emerged from Samashti (Society), Samashti from Srishti (Creation). Only when you understand the principle of creation, can you understand the Creator. (SS June 99, p. 142)
It is not possible for everyone to understand Divinity. The one who misappropriates the wife of another and the one who mocks at the noble ones can never understand Divinity. Only those who are pure and compassionate can hope to understand Divinity. (SSB 1996, p. 90)
