‘Vaidyo Narayano Harih’ – God is the real doctor, say the scriptures. Yes, in truth it is He alone that can and does cure you of your physical, mental and spiritual sickness. Of course, the ordinary (human) doctors might be instrumental in relieving you from physical and mental ailments to some extent. But when it comes to the spiritual disease of ignorance of the Reality and consequent suffering, it is the Lord alone that can help you overcome it. That is why He is called the Bhava-roga Vaidya, the doctor for the disease of metempsychosis or transmigration. (NNSG Vol.5, p. 16)
