Essence

It does not matter if you do not enter good company and do good deeds. It does not matter if you do not participate in dhyana and japa but it is absolutely essential that you should keep you heart pure and clean. The essence of all religions teaches that you should keep your heart clean. Both in the material world and spiritual attainments, control of your sensory organs is essential. It is not good to completely and rigidly control all your senses nor is it desirable to give them complete freedom. One should adopt the middle path. (SSB 1974, p.14)

Rama said to Bharata, ‘brother! Of all the righteous acts, help rendered to those needing is the most righteous of the evil acts, there is nothing worse than causing harm to others. Know that this is the essence of the teachings of the Vedas and Puranas. This is the ideal, held forth by good men everywhere. Those who are benefited by birth as men, and yet indulge in injuring others, are degraded into lower bestial levels and have to be born and die as those beings. Or, when born again as men, they commit further evils through their ignorance and blindness it causes. For such, I am the meter-out of Karma-consequence and it is only after a long passage of time which they have to struggle out of the darkness, that I vouchsafe a vision Myself. I throw them again into the vortex of life and make them experience the ups and downs so that they might be educated. (RKRV Part II, June 2002, pp. 291-292)

If only we are able to give service and conduct ourselves with humility when we see elders, that will be referred to as true education. Without knowing the essence of education, do not go about saying that you are an educated person. Your beauty, your age, your strength, your wealth and your position should not make you feel proud because with your advancing age all these will vanish. In this context, what is the point in your feeling proud of this leather bag of body. (SSB 1973, p. 186)

The essence of all the scriptures is enshrined in the Bhagavat (Bhagavan) Nama. This is the truth. (Sens.SS, 1998)

‘There is nothingness in the Universe’, the scientist makes such statements because with his limited vision, he cannot see all things or know them... Man is part of the whole, and that whole is God, simply different manifestations. The goal, the purpose and the essence of all creeds, faiths and religions are the sublimation of the mind so that it can ensure liberation for the individual and happiness in society. (Ddd, p. 2)

The Essence of all the Vedantic texts

I am revealing thus in one sentence;

The Atmic consciousness prevailing

All the living beings and you is one and the

Same Constantly remember thi Truth. (Telugu Poem)

(M&M, p. 1)

The principle of love is present in all. When people develop love, then there will be no conflicts in the world. Therefore, you should develop love. Never resort to untruth under any circumstances. If you follow untruth, you will never be able to develop love. Therefore, always adhere to truth. Develop love only by following truth and righteousness. These two qualities are most essential for man. This is the essence of all Upanishads.

All Upanishads teach the truth in different ways. The sum and substance of all teachings of the Upanishads is the principle of divinity is one. Ekam evadvitiyam brahma (God is one without a second). God is one, not two. It is due to your delusion that you see duality. You should never give scope to such delusion. You will have true devotion when you do not have even a trace of delusion. (SS Aug 09 , p. 239)

Truth, Righteousness, Peace and Love constitute the foundation of the Scriptures, the essence of all religions, the destination of all paths, and the essence of all essences. (SSB 1996, p. 76)
